WHO WE ARE

Maiya Publishing is a boutique publishing house based in Bengaluru. It was started by Dipika A Khaitan in 2012, while in the process of writing and publishing her own first book -- the biography of her mother, the legendary actor T Krishna Kumari. Dipika understood the hardships faced by prospective writers looking to publish their work. Not only would she self-publish her book, she would go on to set up an enterprise to help other new authors bring their work to life.

Maiya Publishing is now a fast-growing name in the world of publishing in India. The new-age start-up has since become a unique one-stop solution for writers who want to have absolute control over their books. With Maiya Publishing, Dipika hopes to change the way publishers think of authors and vice versa.

An alumni of The Valley School, Bengaluru, Dipika A Khaitan is a non-conformist who  likes to look at things through a unique lens. Dipika has a world of cumulative experiences in her career of over 27 years, which includes marketing, media and human relations roles in corporates and MNCs, and her own interior design enterprise for office spaces.

Her father, the late Ajay Mohan Khaitan, former editor-in-chief of the Indian Express group of publications, hails from the legal family Khaitan & Co, Kolkata. Her marriage into the Maiya family that has run the heritage restaurant chain, Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR) since the 1920s, has only further widened the sphere of her network and knowledge of the business. Dipika credits her family for inspiring her to direct Maiya Publishing towards becoming one of the top publishers for new authors in India. Dipika is also part of several business networks like FICCI – FLO Bengaluru chapter, FICCI FLO Book Club (core team), Swayam & Investment Group – Millennium Mams, Kolkata.
